I have always been fully invested in music and concerts. My love started when I was about 4, and I was obsessed with Rascal Flatts. They were my first concert ever. My next obsession was Eminem, at age 9. I would listen to him all day, and even as I fell asleep. I don't know how I fell asleep to Eminem; he makes music that should not be slept to.
In middle school, I began venturing out from my Eminem hole. I started listening to J Cole and all of the artists on his label. JID, Ari Lennox, Earthgang, and Bas. I was obsessed. Then I got into the lo-fi hip-hop scene, with artists like Kota the Friend, and eventually started to listen to more than just rap. I loved Brent Faiyaz (before everyone else), Dominic Fike (also before everyone else), and Frank Ocean.
When I got into high school, I started listening to even more. I listened to my favorite album of all time for the first time. Dijon's "Absolutely". That album changed the way I listen to music. There genuinely cannot be an album that comes close to "Absolutely." I have been lucky enough to see Dijon live 3 times now, and he always plays a good portion of that album. My top 3 artists have stayed consistent for the past 4 or so years, and the 4th and 5th spots change every so often.
